  • Flag Competition Overview: Each participant will receive 2 flags: 1 for their Sand Valley round, and 1 for their Mammoth Dunes round. They will begin each round with an allotment of strokes (for Sand Valley, 72 + their Course Handicap; for Mammoth Dunes, 73 + their Course Handicap) and will play until their strokes run out, at which point they will plant their flag next to their ball before completing their round. The competitor whose flag is farthest along on each course is the winner (1 winner on Sand Valley, 1 winner on Mammoth Dunes). The 2 winners will each receive $1,000 pro shop credit plus free entry into next year's Flag Competition event

  • Ties: Should anyone complete all 18 holes with strokes remaining, they will return to the #1 tee and continue until their strokes are used, at which point they will plant their flag next to their ball.

  • Tees: Men may compete from the Sand, Orange, or Black tees; Women may compete from the Green, Sand, or Orange tees. Juniors 15 and under, and players age 65+ may move up one additional set of tees. Course Handicaps will be adjusted based upon the tees chosen.

  • Rules: All putts must be holed out. LOCAL RULE: all sand including bunkers is considered waste area and played as “through the green” (players may ground their club and/or take practice swings).

  • Handicaps: Players with USGA handicaps will provide their GHIN number at the time of booking. Players without an established handicap will receive a Course Handicap by providing their last 5 scores upon arrival at Sand Valley. The professional golf staff will calculate their handicap for use in the Flag Competition.
